2023 CVSA Brake Safety Week

Brake system issues are a leading cause of out-of-service violations. When performing brake maintenance, it is important to inspect and maintain the entire braking system to prevent these violations. Cummins-Meritor has identified an estimated ratio of related service items that should be serviced during preventative maintenance. Calculate your ratio.

The next CVSA Brake Safety Week is scheduled for August 20-26. While roadside inspections occur every single day, Brake Safety Week serves as an important industry reminder regarding commercial vehicle safety. Proper brake inspections and maintenance can prevent costly repairs and reduce downtime – and most importantly help keep vehicles safe on the road. Learn more from the CVSA

sustainable future

Cummins-Meritor’s Plainfield, Indiana facility remanufactured 1,260 differentials, 12,336 calipers and over 5.2 million brake shoes. These circular economy processes avoided the use of 30,700 tons of raw steel.

Each remanufactured brake shoe passes strict quality reuirements to ensure form, fit and function. Our high-quality brake shoes can be remanufactured multiple times as long as they pass all inspection criteria.

Metal no longer meeting the quality standards required for remanufacture are recycled. In fiscal year 2021, Plainfield recycled approximately 7.6 million pounds (3,833 tons) of metal.
